Slippers

I started going through the daily free patterns I get in my email for some Christmas ideas. My cousin Sara sews aprons and inspired me last year to try knitting a pair of socks for everyone in my entire family: cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas, parents, siblings. That's a lot of people! But socks take a REALLY long time so I only got to make 3 or 4 pairs of socks. My cousin is smart for sewing only for the ladies! I definitely needed to start very early in the year if I'm going to knit socks for presents! These slipper patterns I found take hardly any time at all. I might be able to knit something this year for everyone's feet! There are a lot of easy, free, and quick patterns. Most only require straight size 6-8mm needles. Last night I finished these purple pocket-book slippers.

They look like little purse like pocket-books when you aren't wearing them. So comfy and snug-- they feel so good on your feet! The longer you knit the "body" of the pattern the bigger or longer it gets to stretch over larger sized feet. The pattern I used can be found by clicking HERE. I made an index card of this pattern so I can make more and play with color! I don't have enough yarn for a complete single colored pair of slippers so I'm going to go through my yarn stash and figure out a cool color scheme for all the slippers I'm going to make. There's even the idea to sew leather or fabric on the bottoms of the slippers so they are more like mocassins and do not slide on wood or tile floors. Genius.
In my email folder for all knitting patterns, there are so many patterns for slippers I found so many cute ones like these bootie slippers: http://www.aokcorral.com/projects/how2oct2005.htm
Also try doing a search in pattern databases you're signed up with because there's a lot of free patterns online. I found this pattern for Mary Jane Slippers on Ravelry.com! http://www.purlbee.com/mary-jane-slippers/
